Multipoint Locks

As with any hardware, door locks can age over time, and use and wear can result in the need for replacements.  Of course, it’s essential that, when the time does come to replace your patio and composite door locks, you ensure that you replace like for like.  If possible, you should endeavour to replace your old locks with those that meet or exceed industry standards for security.

In recent years, cylinders for multipoint locks have been developed and tested in line with the TS 007 standard to stand up to intruders’ efforts to damage them by bumping or snapping, and many of them now meet the high standards outlined and required to meet the Secured by Design accreditation, as well as the standards required by the Door and Hardware Federation (DHF), the Master Locksmiths Association (MLA) and the Glass and Glazing Federation.

Manufacturers including Yale and ERA have developed their own ranges of multipoint locks that meet the standards and guidelines, and they’re suitable for use on a wide range of doors – including patio doors and front and back doors.  In fact, Yale’s Doormaster range of uPVC multipoint locks are designed with anti-slam and anti-lift devices as standard to help deter intruders.

Whether they’re fitted as part of composite door furniture, replacing old locks on your existing front or back doors, or helping to increase the security of your patio door, multipoint locks are designed to ensure the utmost in security.  And because most are designed and manufactured in line with the most recent advancements in technology and industry standards, you can rest assured that, when installed, multipoint locks will help to keep your home secure.

Of course, it’s not only important that your new locks function flawlessly, but that they look good too, which is why multipoint lever handles are available in a range of colours and finishes, so you can be sure that you’ll find a lock that will look great when combined with your existing door furniture.
