How does an up and over garage door work?
There are two main types of up and over garage door: canopy and retractable. A canopy up and over door can be opened and pushed upwards until around a third of it is left visible, hanging over the garage door opening like a canopy. Those with retractable mechanisms behave in much the same way but will retract fully on horizontal tracks. This is a desirable aesthetic feature. Retractable garage doors can also be automated, operating via handheld remote controls or the push of a button.
